The Scaleup Landing Pad Hamburg is supporting the most promising green-tech startups with extensive assistance. Matchmaking and venture clienting are the centerpieces of this tailor-made scaleup programme.

Hamburg, 4 March 2024 – The Scaleup Landing Pad Hamburg invites growth companies with sustainable technologies to apply for its annual scaleup programme. Participating companies will receive extensive hands-on support, bespoke consulting, and resources to facilitate their settlement in Hamburg. With its strategic location for innovation-driven industry players, Hamburg offers unparalleled opportunities for scaleups to thrive.

As of today, international scaleups with an innovative green-tech approach in mobility, logistics, energy, and construction can apply until 31 March 2024 for the Scaleup Landing Pad Hamburg at https://landingpad.future.hamburg/. To be eligible, companies must demonstrate business success in their home market, be in a strong growth phase, have not yet established themselves in Germany and show the intention to tap into Hamburg’s local ecosystem.

The centrepiece of the scaleup programme is a dedicated matchmaking process. The objective is to connect scaleups with established companies in the greater Hamburg region as early as possible to accelerate business opportunities. To accomplish this, Hamburg-based companies submit their innovation requirements and offer use cases for targeted innovation scouting.

Dr Rolf Strittmatter, Managing Director of Hamburg Invest, emphasises: “As Northern Europe's mobility and logistics hub and the centre of the Northern German hydrogen ecosystem, Hamburg is better suited than any other location for scaling green technologies. Our Scaleup Landing Pad makes it easier than ever for young companies to gain a foothold in Germany and Europe. In terms of its facilities and market-oriented flexibility, this programme is certainly unique.”

This is the third call for applications since the initiative was launched in 2022 with the first batch. In the last year, the Scaleup Landing Pad Hamburg welcomed eleven scaleups from seven countries across three continents, demonstrating its global reach and impact. Standout examples from the first batches include Infinite Mobility (Norway), Fybra (Italy) and SunGreenH2 (Singapore), which have all successfully initiated pilot projects with established companies in Hamburg.

Gaetano Lapenta, Co-Founder and CEO at Fybra, a company offering solutions for improved indoor air quality, said: “The Scaleup Landing Pad Hamburg was helping us a lot in getting in touch with governments and key decision-makers in educational institutions, which were core targets of our business model.” Fybra is currently running a pilot project supported by the Landing Pad, implementing their solution in several schools in Hamburg.

Hamburg is not only one of the most powerful business centres in Europe, but also one of the top startup locations in Germany. Numerous global market leaders from the most important key industries are headquartered in Hamburg. As well as featuring an outstanding digital and creative economy, the Hanseatic city in the north of Europe is one of the best places to scale up innovative business ideas. The vibrant ecosystem of Germany’s second largest city, coupled with robust infrastructure and supportive policies, makes it an ideal destination for companies looking to expand their footprint in Europe.
