Where the heart of music is: Reeperbahn Festival Hamburg to rock St Pauli

Following last year’s buzzing party to celebrate the festival’s 10th anniversary, this year’s Reeperbahn Festival will be taking place from 21 to 24 September. During four festival days, Europe’s biggest club festival will once again represent the perfect synthesis of international music festival, creativity, and nightlife, while also providing a platform for the music and digital industries. Taking place in the vibrant district of St Pauli, the festival attracts young music fans from around the globe – with 450 gigs at more than 70 different venues, featuring both established artists and up-and-coming bands. On the occasion of the Reeperbahn Festival, Hamburg Tourismus GmbH (HHT) will be presenting some of the city’s coolest hotspots as part of the new HHT campaign “Hamburg – Where the Heart is”.

 

At the Reeperbahn Festival, international stakeholders from the music and digital industries discuss the most recent industry trends, and forge new collaborations and business ideas. Come the evening, music fans and industry experts alike party in the pubs and clubs of the Reeperbahn – this has been the essence of the Reeperbahn Festival for ten years now, and the Reeperbahn Festival’s spirit is certainly unparalleled in Europe. In fact, the neighbourhood of St Pauli is the ideal place for pub-crawling and club-hopping: the more than 70 venues around the Reeperbahn are all in walking distance of each other, i.e. participants will be able to enjoy a large number of programme items despite the packed programme. The Reeperbahn Festival thus provides ideal conditions for fans and trade visitors (in 2015, the festival was attended by more than 32,000 people).

This year‘s music programme will feature more than 450 national and international bands and artists, among them Craig David, Declan McKenna, George Cosby, Villagers, Friska Viljor, Maxim, The Head and the Heart, Gang Of Four, Get Well Soon, MULE & MAN (Bonaparte & Kid Simius), Ben Caplan and Wallis Bird. In addition, the Reeperbahn Festival’s conference programme with 230 programme items will address ways of shaping the future of the music and digital industries. What is more, the Reeperbahn Festival’s arts programme sporting more than 50 programme items from the realms of literature, film and fine arts will add further to the festival’s immense diversity. In close proximity to the Flatstock Europe Poster Convention on Spielbudenplatz, visitors will be able to enjoy a highly visible public art project that will once again transform the premises of the former Esso building complex into a spectacular piece of art. The HHT campaign “Hamburg – Where the Heart is” is aimed at music fans who would like to take the opportunity of the Reeperbahn Festival to explore Hamburg’s and St Pauli’s most exciting spots and coveted gems.
