Magical Disney musical summer in Hamburg
Hamburg, 6 June 2024 (HHT) - For Disney fans, a visit to the Hanseatic city is worthwhile three times over this summer, as three Disney musicals can be visited for a short time only: HERCULES, THE LION KING and THE ICE QUEEN. With the two German premieres of the musical hits & JULIA and MJ - The Michael Jackson Musical, Hamburg will once again prove its qualities as Germany's musical capital in late autumn. With Hamburg Tourismus, musical fans can secure a discount of up to 25 % on the ticket price of selected musicals until 14 July 2024.
Anyone planning a short holiday in Hamburg this summer should definitely not miss the latest musical from Disney. Inspired by the 1997 Disney film of the same name, audiences can look forward to an elaborately staged musical adventure. Disney's HERCULES is the story of a demigod who sets out to find himself and his place in the world. Spectacular stagecraft, humour for young and old, a wonderfully honest hero and, of course, true love are the ingredients of this captivating musical production, which celebrated its highly acclaimed world premiere in Hamburg.
As one of Hamburg's top tourist magnets, Disney's THE LION KING should not be missing from the bucket list. For more than 22 years, this exceptional musical has touched millions of hearts in its spectacular theatre in Hamburg's harbour and is still sold out night after night. And not without reason. Hardly any other musical combines dancing, singing and acting so perfectly.
In summer temperatures, it's worth cooling off in the icy world of Arendelle. Set to award-winning music with songs such as ‘Let It Go’, the audience experiences a touching musical adventure together with the sisters Anna, Elsa and their companions Olaf, Sven and Kristoff. Enchanting choreography, amazing effects and a mystical ice world make THE ICE QUEEN unique.
Two German premieres in autumn
Things remain exciting in Germany's musical capital this autumn: on 15 September, DANCE OF THE VAMPIRE says goodbye to Hamburg - and to German musical stages in general until further notice. With & JULIA, an infectiously life-affirming hit musical celebrates its German premiere at the Stage Operettenhaus in October: & JULIA retells the plot of the greatest love story of all time and asks: What would happen if Juliet chose life after Romeo's death? And so begins a journey on which Julia is given a second chance at life and love. Julia's new story is given a special dynamic by the playlist of numerous world-famous pop anthems, including ‘Since U Been Gone’ by Kelly Clarkson, ‘Roar’ by Katy Perry, ‘Baby One More Time’ by Britney Spears and ‘Can't Stop the Feeling!’ by Justin Timberlake. All songs will remain in the original English.
In December, the second German premiere of the year will follow at the Stage Theater an der Elbe: MJ - The Michael Jackson Musical will showcase some of the most popular and best-selling songs in music history and go far beyond the star's unique moves and unmistakable sound - with rare insights into the team spirit and creative power that made Michael Jackson a legend.
