Putting Hamburg on the world map

To harness the full range of marketing opportunities for the Hamburg Metropolitan Region, our Cross-Sectoral Marketing department is dedicated to systematically connecting all players involved and creating synergies between them. Together with our partners, we market the Hamburg Metropolitan Region in Germany and abroad and design overarching, medium and long-term marketing strategies to increase awareness of the Hamburg Metropolitan Region. In colloaboration with the Strategy & Brand Management and Media Relations departments, we develop, communicate and manage the Hamburg brand and integrate the activities of other companies involved in Hamburg marketing, with the aim of highlighting the region's locational benefits.

Hamburg Metropolitan Region

Hamburg Marketing GmbH has the task of marketing Hamburg as a city and metropolitan region. Being home to 5.4 million people, the region is both economically strong and highly liveable. At an international level, Hamburg Marketing positions the Hamburg Metropolitan Region as "Northern Germany's Connected Hub".

HamburgAmbassadors

Around the world, there are people who have strong ties with Hamburg – be it through birth, college or work. The HamburgAmbassador programme, initiated by the Senate Chancellery, the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce and Hamburg Marketing, maintains a network of volunteer ambassadors from 26 countries worldwide. The aim is to raise Hamburg's international profile and make the city more visible globally.

Digital marketing

Hamburg Marketing GmbH uses targeted digital strategies to present Hamburg online as a centre of business and innovation. Based on high-quality content, strategic dissemination and customised online communication, we address relevant target groups and strengthen the city's competitiveness in a sustainable manner.

Cultural campaign

Running under the tagline "Mischen is possible" (a play on words on "Mission impossible"), the Hamburg Ministry of Culture and Media is sending out a strong signal in favour of Hamburg's diversity as a city of culture. Supported by Hamburg Marketing GmbH, the campaign catches the eye with rich colours, creative visuals and pointed slogans. The aim is to showcase Hamburg's wide range of cultural offerings and invite the public to discover new perspectives and formats – live, colourful and inspiring.
