Counsellor and supervisory authority

The Supervisory Board advises and monitors the management of Hamburg Marketing GmbH (HMG) and appoints its management. It consists of twelve members, six of whom represent the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, three the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce and two the (rural) districts of the Hamburg metropolitan region.

The Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board is Dr Melanie Leonhard, Senator of the Ministry of Economics and Innovation of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg.

The other members include:

  • District Administrator Rainer Rempe (District of Harburg),
  • District Administrator Tino Schomann (District of Northwest Mecklenburg)
  • State Councillor Jan Pörksen (Senate Chancellery)

Marketing bodies and specialised authorities: Exchange and networking

In the Marketing Board, city stakeholders such as HMG, Hamburg Messe & Congresse, Hafencity, Hamburg Airport, hamburg.de and the Port of Hamburg discuss their activities and initiate overarching measures.

The Ministry of Economics and Innovation (BWI) is responsible for the strategic management of Hamburg marketing. It works closely with HMG and the other marketing companies in the Hamburg Metropolitan Region. The structure, tasks and objectives of HMG are set out in Senate Document 19/6161.
