Beachclubs and Beaches

Strand Pauli

(Strand Pauli / ibid.)

The Strand Pauli beach club is only a short walk away from the St Pauli Landungsbrücken. In addition to chilled drinks there are also small snacks and freshly barbecued food on offer here. The fabulous view across the Elbe with its passing container ships is of course free of charge.

Central Park

(Central Park / Facebook)

Although this beach club is not situated directly on the water, you can relax just as well here and escape the hustle and bustle of the Schanzenviertel district. In addition to bottled beer and chilled soft drinks, you can also enjoy grilled snacks and chips. A flea market is held here every first and third Sunday of the month.

Strandperle

(Strandperle / Christian Spahrbier)

This is as close as it gets to the water – so dig your feet into the sand and enjoy. The Strandperle is not a beach club but a bar right on a natural Elbe beach. This is where not only tourists flock, but also families, dog owners, pensioners and students, i.e. basically anyone looking to enjoy a day on the beach in the heart of the city.

28° Strandbad Wedel

(Beachclub Wedel / imagefoto.de)

Situated just outside the city boundaries, Wedel beach is well worth the trip, for the atmosphere here is even more relaxed than in the city beach clubs. Long queues at the bar are not an issue here. As the sun disappears behind the trees at 7pm, you can spend a relaxed evening with your feet dug into the fine white sand that has been brought here from the Baltic Sea.

Sky and Sand

(Sky and Sand / ibid.)

Sky and Sand is located on the roof of the multi-storey car park of the Hamburger Meile shopping centre and is Hamburg's highest beach club. While it doesn’t offer a view of the water, it does however offer a splendid panoramic view of Hamburg – from the Stadtpark all the way to the television tower. The beach club also boasts a 20 m² swimming pool including towel service, and numerous beach chairs and sun loungers invite you to relax.

(Strandkiosk / ibid.)

Located right next to the Strandperle, the AHOI Strandkiosk does not sell chewing gum or magazines, but instead a whole range of tasty goodies: coffee and cake or pizza and beer, no matter what time of day. Why not sit back and dig your feet into the sand and enjoy the view of the passing ships.

Sterngarten

(Sterngarten / Facebook)

This gem of a garden belongs to the MXB bar on the Sternbrücke and is a true oasis in the middle of the Schanzenviertel district. While it is not situated on the water, the Sterngarten is the perfect place for a chilled drink and crispy grilled snacks – topped up with art, culture and music.
