Hamburg, 28 June 2024 – With a unique container installation for the UEFA EURO 2024, Hamburg is demonstrating just how welcoming the city is as the “Gateway to the World” (and to global football!). The tournament bracket created for the UEFA European Football Championships at the heart of the Port of Hamburg using containers is the largest of its kind in the world and reminds of the cosmopolitan flair for which Hamburg has always been known. The installation at O’Swaldkai recreates the familiar tournament bracket in a new, tangible format and draws attention to the knockout round of the UEFA EURO 2024 in a spectacular fashion. Hamburg residents and visitors can view the world’s largest tournament bracket from the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg Plaza or HafenCity Hamburg up until 20 July 2024.

The European Football Championship got off to a brilliant start in Hamburg last weekend: an orange fan walk with 40,000 Dutch fans, a packed Volkspark stadium and a very well-attended fan zone on Heiligengeistfeld whetted the appetite for soccer. The gigantic container installation in the Port of Hamburg was also converted accordingly for the second match day of the tournament, which starts today: the 25 containers will now visualize the pairings for the second match day of UEFA EURO 2024 until 21 June. A full house is expected in the fan zone with public viewing for both the Croatia v Albania match in the Volksparkstadion and the second group match of the German national team in the evening.

In exactly five weeks, the UEFA EURO 2024 will kick off with the match between Germany and Scotland. Before the kick-off sounds and the fan zone with public viewing opens its doors at Heiligengeistfeld, the UEFA Trophy will be touring Hamburg with several stops on May 10 and 11. Hamburg residents and their guests will be able to admire the winning trophy exclusively at the Hafengeburtstag Hamburg on Saturday.

Before the first UEFA EURO 2024 match takes place in Hamburg in 55 days' time, there will be an extensive cultural program in Hamburg to whet the appetite for the European Football Championship. Hamburg cultural organizers from various sectors have developed projects that approach the topic of soccer in an exciting way.

The UEFA EURO 2024 begins 100 days from today on June 14, which is also the opening day for the "Fan Zone Hamburg" on Heiligengeistfeld. On 22 match days until July 14, the site in the center of Hamburg will be the home of the European Football Championship in the north and invites you to experience soccer and emotions together with free admission. On 15 match days, there will also be public viewing for event enthusiasts.

Last Saturday, the group draw for the 2024 European Football Championship in the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg was simultaneously recreated with a container installation in the Port of Hamburg. With the support of terminal operator UNIKAI and LOTUS Containers, the installation will now be extended until Sunday, December 17. Since the beginning of this week, Miniatur Wunderland has also been presenting its mini version of the campaign, which can be seen for longer in the Speicherstadt. The podcast "Einwurf - der Sportpodcast" offers a sporting review of the past weekend and a look ahead to UEFA EURO 2024, which will take place in Germany and Hamburg from June 14 to July 14. Among others with tournament director Philip Lahm, sports senator Andy Grote and Hamburg EURO ambassador Patrick Esume.

Yesterday, Hamburg staged the group draw for the European Football Championship spectacularly in the Port of Hamburg. Opposite the Elbphilharmonie, where the "Final Draw" took place, the draw was simultaneously re-enacted by Hamburg port workers with colorful country containers in a unique action. The installation will be on display opposite HafenCity until at least December 10 and can also be admired in miniature at Miniatur Wunderland from Monday. The country containers of the Netherlands, Czech Republic, Croatia, Albania and Turkey are particularly important for Hamburg: these national teams will be playing in the Volksparkstadion during the UEFA EURO 2024.

Nobody knows yet which soccer nations will be playing at UEFA EURO 2024 in Hamburg. This will change on December 2, when the six groups are drawn at the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg and it is decided which countries will play in Hamburg. Visitors to the Europapassage have been able to take a look at the "Giant Trophy", a large replica of the tournament trophy, since today. The tour of the trophy through Hamburg's ECE shopping centers kicked off with a prominent soccer talk with Marcell Jansen from HSV, among others.

In exactly one year's time, the first UEFA EURO 2024 match will take place in Hamburg on June 16, 2024. "One Year To Go" was therefore the motto of a campaign on the occasion of the "Active City Day" this Friday. With prominent participation, the people of Hamburg were able to take 365 shots on goal on a campaign area at the Mönckebergbrunnen and thus start the countdown to the EURO. Four preliminary round matches and one quarter-final match will be played in Hamburg in a year's time. The group draw (final draw) for the matches in the ten host cities will take place on December 2, 2023 at the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg.
