Ensemble Resonanz
With its unique program, enthusiasm and artistic quality, Ensemble Resonanz ranks as one of the world’s leading chamber orchestras. In innovative programs, the musicians bridge the gap between tradition and the present. Their driving force is the desire to breathe life into early as well as contemporary music.
Principal artistic partners of the ensemble are Tabea Zimmermann and Jean-Guihen Queyras, both former artists in residence. Since summer 2018 the violinist and conductor Riccardi Minasi is the artist in residence. Besides other renowned soloists and conductors, numerous composers such as Enno Poppe, Beat Furrer, Rebecca Saunders, Georg Friedrich Haas, Isabelle Mundry or Georges Aperghis work closely with the ensemble. Concerts and productions take the musicians all over the world to leading concert halls and festivals for contemporary music.
The string orchestra very successfully established the concert series »Resonanzen« at Laeiszhalle Hamburg, since the opening of the Elbphilharmonie the series continue at the new concert hall. . Yet the musicians’ home remains in the heart of St. Pauli, in the resonanzraum located in the bunker at Feldstraße. Innovative music education programs as well as alternative concert formats such as the »anchor events« and the concert series »urban string« ensure a direct dialogue with the audience and show the way into the future.
