Container installation for UEFA EURO 2024 in the Port of Hamburg goes into extra time
Last Saturday, the group draw for the 2024 European Football Championship in the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg was simultaneously recreated with a container installation in the Port of Hamburg. With the support of terminal operator UNIKAI and LOTUS Containers, the installation will now be extended until Sunday, December 17. Since the beginning of this week, Miniatur Wunderland has also been presenting its mini version of the campaign, which can be seen for longer in the Speicherstadt. The podcast "Einwurf - der Sportpodcast" offers a sporting review of the past weekend and a look ahead to UEFA EURO 2024, which will take place in Germany and Hamburg from June 14 to July 14. Among others with tournament director Philip Lahm, sports senator Andy Grote and Hamburg EURO ambassador Patrick Esume.
The container towers in the design of the flags of the countries taking part in next summer's UEFA EURO 2024 have now become a focal point and photo motif for many Hamburg residents and boat trips. In this unique campaign, the draw for the European Championship was simultaneously recreated by 70 Hamburg port workers using colorful country containers. The six highly visible container towers of the drawn groups can be seen until Sunday, December 17 at O'Swaldkai opposite HafenCity Hamburg. The campaign, which has now been extended, will be illuminated at night until next Sunday and without lighting from the following week up to and including December 17. The terminal operator UNIKAI and LOTUS Container have made the extension possible.

Container installation en miniature at Miniatur Wunderland until the summer
Normally, the model builders at Miniatur Wunderland are always a little faster than reality. When it comes to the container installation for the UEFA EURO 2024 draw, they have taken a little longer than the real dock workers: Since the beginning of the week, Wunderland has also been displaying the container installation - somewhat relocated - under the Köhlbrand Bridge in miniature. The containers were delivered a few days earlier - by train, of course. According to Miniatur Wunderland, the biggest challenges were the exact matching of the individual components, the application of colors that matched the original and the millimeter-precise gluing of the mini containers.
The mini installation will definitely be on display until the real tournament in summer 2024. Find out more about Hamburg's biggest tourist attraction at www.miniatur-wunderland.de.
