Taking place on 10 and 11 October 2014 at the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce, this year’s “Hamburg Summit: China meets Europe” especially stands out for its high-ranking participants: China’s premier Li Keqiang will be meeting leading EU officials and will be holding the main keynote speech at this major Sino-European economic summit. With the Hamburg Summit, the city is consolidating its position as China’s gateway to European trade.

Sigmar Gabriel, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy and Vice-Chancellor of Germany is to open WindEnergy Hamburg on Monday evening, 22 September. The leading wind industry fair will be held in Hamburg for the first time from 23 to 26 September.

Photoville, the annual photography festival in Brooklyn, New York, will take place from September 18 to September 28, 2014. Photoville is a modular venue built from re-purposed shipping containers and features photography exhibitions, outdoor photo installations, talks, workshops, and nighttime multimedia projections.

Hamburg Marketing GmbH: Kellogg to relocate headquarters to Hamburg

The producer of cereals and snacks, Kellogg, will merge its division of the Nordics (Sweden, Finland, Norway and Denmark) and Germanics (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) markets and implements as new region “Northern Europe”. Headquarters of the new regional division will be in Hamburg. Wolfgang König has been appointed as as General Manager Northern Europe.

 

Talents – featuring tomorrow’s music acts

In terms of music, the Reeperbahn Festival largely focusses on international newcomers who often present themselves for the first time in front of a German audience and the European music scene. This year’s festival will be featuring e.g. Rhonda from Hamburg, who has become known as “the German Amy Winehouse”.

This weekend the Port of Hamburg / Germany celebrated its forth Cruise Days Festival with a spectacular cruise ship parade. The art project “Blue Port” and more than 600.000 visitors turned Europe´s second biggest port into a worldwide unique maritime stage and offered unusual views of the maritime metropolis and its waterfront. 

From the Elbe to the Danube: “Vienna ahoy! Hamburg is coming.” This is the title of a spectacular project during which Hamburg will present itself in the old town of Vienna, Austria, between 1 and 3 August 2014. The project begins with the launching of an oversized paper ship that has a length of 14 metres and a height of 5 metres.
