The 7th “Hamburg Summit: China meets Europe” conference, one of the major Sino-European conferences of the year, will be addressing current challenges and economic relations between China and Europe on 23 and 24 November 2016. Three guests of honour are to hold speeches at the conclusion of this event: China’s Vice Premier, Liu Yandong, the European Commission’s Vice President, Jyrki Katainen, as well as Germany’s Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs, Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

360-DEGREE PANORAMA FOR ALL: PLAZA OF THE ELBPHILHARMONIE HAMBURG OPENED

Today, before the first concerts take place in Hamburg’s newest landmark and concert hall on 11 and 12 January, the Plaza of the Elbphilharmonie marked its opening with a ceremony. The Plaza is a public observation deck situated between the former warehouse and the new glass structure. On 31 October, the keys to the building were handed over to the City of Hamburg by construction company Hochtief, thus officially ending the construction phase.

XFEL starts commissioning world’s biggest X-ray laser in Hamburg

Hamburg Metropolitan Region set for leading role in X-ray research with EUR 1.5 billion XFEL research plant The European XFEL, a large international research facility including eleven European member countries, began commissioning Thursday (October 6th) a 3.4-km long underground X-ray laser. The laser can generate extremely short and bright X-ray light flashes that enable new views of the structure and fast processes in the nanocosmos.

North German region is going 100% renewable with using Industry 4.0 know-how

As of 1 December 2016, an energy system of the future will be developed in Northern Germany as part of the large-scale project NEW 4.0. From 2035, around 4.5 million residents in the federal states of Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein will be provided with power by renewable energy sources alone.

“Little Italy” in Hamburg: Miniatur Wunderland presents Italy in miniature

Today, following four years of construction and more than 180,000 hours of work, Hamburg’s Miniatur Wunderland presented its most recent masterpiece: a miniature replica of Italy on a 190 square-metre area. Rome with St Peter’s Basilica, the Colosseum, Cinque Terre, Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast are but a few highlights that have been elaborately recreated in this new themed world of Miniatur Wunderland, the world’s largest model railway. Hamburg Tourismus GmbH is offering admission tickets and affordable accommodation opportunities to all those who would like to experience Italy and many other countries in miniature.

Where the heart of music is: Reeperbahn Festival sætter St. Pauli på den anden ende

Efter sidste års brag af en jubilæumsfest i anledning af 10-års jubilæet går Hamborgs Reeperbahn Festival 2016 (21.-24. september 2016) nu ind i 11. runde. På de fire dage, Europas største klubfestival i bydelen St. Pauli varer, er der lagt op til en perfekt symbiose mellem international musikfestival, kreativ udfoldelse, natteliv og musikalsk og digital markedsplads. 32.000 fans fra hele verden forventes at strømme til hansestaden for at opleve deres yndlingsbands og nye håbefulde talenter. Der bliver afholdt 450 koncerter på 70 spillesteder, og byens turistforening (Hamburg Tourismus GmbH) vil i den anledning præsentere de mest cool hotspots og tilbud i St. Pauli og resten af byen under mottoet ”Hamburg - Where the heart is“.
