Today the German port city of Hamburg launched its 2014 CHINA TIME programme. The opening ceremony was attended by Hamburg's First Mayor, Olaf Scholz, and Chinese Consul General, Yang Huiqun. Up until 23 November, the city is showcasing its strong ties with China. More than 200 events will convey a diverse picture of traditional and contemporary China, highlighting the close relationship between Hamburg and China.

“Innovative drive and a pioneering spirit are indispensable in an industry like the renewable energies industry – and these are our strengths in Hamburg and throughout Germany. The German Renewables Award is a particularly good reflection of the inspiration and passion with which smart people in our country devote themselves to a clean and sustainable future,” said Frank Horch, Hamburg’s Minister for Economics, Transport and Innovation

Photoville, the annual photography festival in Brooklyn, New York, will take place from September 18 to September 28, 2014. Photoville is a modular venue built from re-purposed shipping containers and features photography exhibitions, outdoor photo installations, talks, workshops, and nighttime multimedia projections.

Talents – featuring tomorrow’s music acts

In terms of music, the Reeperbahn Festival largely focusses on international newcomers who often present themselves for the first time in front of a German audience and the European music scene. This year’s festival will be featuring e.g. Rhonda from Hamburg, who has become known as “the German Amy Winehouse”.
