Hamburg is recognised throughout Europe as the model city for sustainable and digital mobility. The aim is to increase the proportion of environmentally friendly modes of transport to 80 % by 2030. With MOIA, a subsidiary of Volkswagen, is launching a fully autonomous ridepooling service with electric ID.Buzz vehicles in 2025, which will be integrated into a 37 km² public transport area of the Hamburg Transport Association (HVV). This "pilot area" of hvv switch refers to a specific area in Hamburg in which new mobility services such as car sharing, e-scooters, e-shuttles and local public transport are integrated into a single app, the hvv switch is being bundled and trialled. This area is part of a larger project to transform Hamburg into a "smart mobility" city. In parallel, projects such as the MoLo Hubs ensure the intelligent linking of mobility and logistics solutions at hubs in the city. The Hamburg anchor projects of the ITS strategy – 42 selected projects for intelligent transport systems – are promoting Hamburg's transformation into a Smart Mobility City. The ALIKE project, which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport, is creating new standards for automated driving and multimodal mobility.
