The Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg has maintained close relations with Latvia and the entire Baltic region since the days of the Hanseatic League, based on historical trade links and common interests in the Baltic Sea region.
Latvia is an important partner for Hamburg, particularly in the areas of logistics, port management and digitalisation. The Latvian market offers attractive opportunities for Hamburg companies, for example due to its strategic location, well-trained skilled labour and openness to innovation.
Hamburg and Latvia already have a wide range of economic ties, particularly in trade, transport and the maritime industry. Cooperation in the fields of renewable energies, IT services and start-ups harbours further potential. Both sides are pursuing the goal of deepening this partnership and jointly promoting sustainable growth in the region.
