Hamburg is a leading location for green technologies and sustainable innovations. With programs such as the Scaleup Landing Pad Hamburg the city provides targeted support for international green tech startups entering the market. The second edition of the Hamburg Sustainability Conference (HSC) in June 2025 brought together decision-makers from politics, business and science to develop concrete measures for achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals. One of the results was the "Hamburg Declaration on Responsible AI for the SDGs", which emphasises the ethical use of artificial intelligence to achieve global climate goals. Hamburg combines sustainability with business development and creates practical innovation spaces – from climate-friendly logistics to circular business models.
