Hello Hotel! The best restaurants & bars in Hamburg hotels

A little bit of everyday luxury. Piece by piece. Sip by sip. Hamburg's hoteliers offer top-class cuisine – and not just for hotel guests, of course. Which trendy hotel restaurants and bars are worth one, two or three visits and why Hanseatic residents should check into this delicious world themselves.

Bland uniformity and dull tourist talk? You'll look in vain for that in Hamburg's hotels. In the Hanseatic city, people eat and drink in style. Not only in the city's trendy eateries, but also in a wide variety of hotels. And all of this in a wonderful, Hanseatic atmosphere.

The good old days – Enjoyable nostalgia in Hamburg's historic city centre

Many of Hamburg's restaurants can look back on a long tradition. If you want to treat yourself to first-class service with a touch of time travel and exquisite cuisine, you have a wide choice in Hamburg. First and foremost: The Fairmont Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten on Jungfernstieg, located directly on the Binnenalster. Here you can not only meet for tea and biscuits in the cosy fireside lounge – the hotel's own bar is also like an open history book of the Hanseatic city. If you want to fortify yourself before the selected drinks, dive into the basement of the building. Nikkei Nine serves dishes that combine Japanese cuisine with Peruvian influences in a stylish 1950s James Bond atmosphere.

THE DINING RooM in the Fraser Suites Hotel will surprise you with a touch of New York on the Elbe River. In the Art Déco style of the 1920s, there is room for a variety of culinary delights. At the weekend, the traditional English roast, the "Sunday Roast", attracts guests to brunch. The main course is served and carved with the help of Henry, the original carving trolley from 1920.

If you want to have a last drink in the golden era of the 1920s, you will find the right mixed drink in 1910, the bar of the Reichshof Hotel. Good to know: Whiskey varieties from all over the world play first fiddle here. For those who prefer crystal-clear rum without the fuss, the Boilerman Bar in the 25hours Hotel Hamburg Altes Hafenamt is the place to be.

The Atlantic Bar in the internationally renowned Atlantic Hotel also offers a cosy spot with the best view. Beforehand, try the original Atlantic lobster soup in the Atlantic Grill & Health – an exquisite restaurant with French-based fusion cuisine. Here you can relax and philosophise into the night.

The modern way to dine and drink: From Alsterblick to HafenCity

Classicism and modernity join hands in Hamburg. The Fontenay has been enriching the Alster belt since 2017. The luxury hotel with a breathtaking view over Hamburg's waterfront spoils culinary guests with its Michelin-starred cuisine in the Lakeside Restaurant. Delicate, unpretentious dishes with a complex flavour make a visit to Lakeside a gourmet experience. Friends of short distances can then enjoy drinks served by the internationally renowned bar crew on the hotel's own panoramic terrace in the Fontenay Bar. Here, the freshly started evening flies by with a gentle breeze in your hair.

The (M)eatery is the first choice for anyone who loves a fair steak. At home in the Hamburg Side Hotel, the restaurant team sizzles the best beef in the original Southbend Grill. Hot tip: In summer, a variety of barbecue evenings are celebrated on the roof terrace.

The Heritage in the Hotel Le Méridien is similarly succulent. In the elegant, casual ambience, meat fans dine on dry-aged steak from the 800-degree oven and are served handmade cheese. On top: guests can enjoy a majestic view from the ninth floor of the hotel.

These restaurants & bars in Hamburg hotels are flying high!

When it comes to the "perfect view", you are spoiled for choice in the Hanseatic city. Or rather, the opportunity to spend many delicious evenings in a variety of heaven-kissing favourite places. In the city centre and around the harbour, there are a number of high places that let their guests take off.

The highest view over the city, at 126 metres, can be found in the TWOSIX bar in the Radisson Blu Hotel. Here you can enjoy wines from all corners of the world and delicious cheese. Always a good idea: Plan an extended evening stroll in Hamburg's oldest park, Planten un Blomen.

Not far from the Landungsbrücken is the Tower Bar, which was founded in 1987 and is part of the Hotel Hafen Hamburg. With a perfect panoramic view, the evening sun glistens over the Elbe River right into the cocktail glasses. With over 70 cocktails on the menu, the evening can be a long one.

Numbers please: A 20 metres long bar with 7 metres deep panoramic windows at a height of 96 metres. Wow! This is the 20up, the Skyline Bar of the Empire Riverside Hotel. Situated between the Landungsbrücken and the Reeperbahn party mile, the views here compete with the lights of the night. If you want to round off the evening with a complete culinary experience, you can enjoy cocktails and sushi specialities from Hamburg's most famous sushi master Chantira Tuk Bedick.

The finest food and best drinks are also fascinating at Fang & Feld with its neighbouring BLICK Bar. Located in The Westin Hamburg, this gem in the Elbphilharmonie neighbourhood surprises with the finest fish creations and selected cocktails that sweeten every sundowner evening – starry skies and harbour sparkles included.
