Hamburg tastes so good! The 2nd OPEN MOUTH Hamburg Food Festival offers even more insights into the world of good flavours

Hamburg, 07.05.2024 (HHT) - The date has been set: from 12 to 16 September, the OPEN MOUTH Hamburg Food Festival will be all about eating, drinking and being amazed. The Oberhafen district will be the heart of the festival. Numerous decentralised highlights at various culinary experience points in and outside the city will ensure a varied programme of events.

Michael Otremba, Managing Director of Hamburg Tourismus GmbH (HHT): ‘After the exciting first edition, we will continue to develop the OPEN MOUTH Hamburg Food Festival in the coming years - for locals and guests alike. Because our maxim is: a city that is attractive for locals is automatically attractive for guests too. Both groups are united by the fact that enjoyment and culinary experiences are very important for their own quality of life. We want to bring people together to experience the remarkable diversity and the power of connection as well as the cultural value of food and drink.’

Together with the participating partners, HHT is thus providing a targeted impetus for sustainable tourism development. Local added value will be strengthened and Hamburg will be recognised as a creative hotspot for foodies.

The basic ingredients of OPEN MOUTH are contrasting and creative experiences and the wealth of ideas of the restaurateurs. The concept is being realised by the Hamburg-based food experts from tellerrand consulting GmbH, who were the winners of a tender.

Patrick Rüther, Managing Director of tellerrand consulting: ‘After last year's successful launch, we are delighted to continue to implement the OPEN MOUTH Food Festival in the coming years and to constantly develop it into a multifaceted and inspiring experience for visitors from all over the world with exciting programme items and a strong network. We are focussing on five central levels, with each level representing an essential aspect of human life and promoting the integration of community, culture, producers, education and food and drink. The OPEN MOUTH Food Festival is more than an event; it is a platform that brings people together to celebrate, learn, share and co-create a world of diversity and inspiration. We invite everyone to become part of the network - both as participants and visitors.’

Content and partners will be curated on the basis of a further developed concept that places producers, manufacturers, gastronomy and hospitality from the region in the foreground. A newly developed selection process will start on 1 June. All regional businesses are invited to take part with their own activities and submit sustainable ideas.

That was the 1st OPEN MOUTH Hamburg Food Festival

Around 7,500 visitors were counted over the five days of the festival at around 200 events and catering events as well as in the bars, cafés, hotels and restaurants. With around 3,500 visitors, the Oberhafenquartier in particular was a popular destination thanks to the varied programme.
